When to stop blogging and here's why you should not
Blogging is hard.
I called it a long-term marketing goal, side hustle, and an art.
It's a marketing art that not everyone sees as an opportunity for growth.
Maybe that blogging isn't for everyone thou.
But that might be crucial for every business out there.
The thing about blogging is that it just doesn't only drive traffic but leads.
A company that does blog has created the potential of acquiring leads than others that don't.
In fact, research completely says business that blog generates 10x leads than a business that doesn't.
Whenever your blog is created do that for the purpose to attract, engage, and delight your prospects.
When you have them in mind converting them would be so easy.
First, you need to build on context - who you're about targeting.
When you know who they're that way your inbound marketing channels come in.
Such as blog post, ebook, webinar, video, podcast and more
Then tell me what's the need of thinking about when to stop blogging?
When you know is part of your inbound effort.
Blogging is an inbound tactic of building a highly targeted audience.
And not just that alone is also a content machine of building authority.
Think about it this way and know that blogging is not just about making money.
Or going all out monetizing it.
Everything has gone beyond that shadow.
Now, big brands use blogging for telling stories, driving leads intent and turning them into customers.
All that is what blogging can bring into your nutshell.
For me, I don't just say blogging is used to create a memory of fun.
As many have used that to grow their blog revenue.
For instance, Neil Patel here's his revenue data source.
And that is quite a money blogging.
So if you ever taught that maybe you can't make up to such a figure.
Then I believe you ain't doing yourself much good.
So, why do you want to stop blogging?
If there's any concrete reason why you would love to stop then I'm all ears.
But if you can't reach me then it's best I tell you why stopping blogging isn't the best way to go about it.
Here are why you shouldn't stop blogging but do instead:
- Blogging brings value
- It is marketable
- It helps you optimize for search engines
- Blogging builds a relationship
- It promotes your Youtube videos
- It tells your story
1. Blogging brings value
According to Hubspot Academy, it takes around 6-8 touches to generate a viable sales leads.
It means it takes about 6 content tactics to turn leads intent into sales.
And that can be a lot of work.
Tracking every buyer's stage and churning out content for purchase intent.
I mean not every business would be a good fit for that and that's why most people felt blogging is actually dead.
But for me, I disagree with such opinions.
If blogging is actually dead then why brands like Optinmonster use blogging tactics to build over 250, 000 users?
With a top marketing strategy and case study that drives leads intent?
For some, blogging might be a supporting business objective or initiative.
Why for others it can turn out to be a business deal.
So everything really relies on how you want that to work for your goals.
And to what Hubspot said, one of the marketing challenges is traffic.
Take a look at this: why is it that your blog isn't receiving any fraction of traffic?
Here might be the reason why that keeps happening:
- You don't focus more on your prospect's initiative and that might cause you a lot.
- The marketing strategy of your blog seems poor and no one feels why they should convert.
- SEO isn't your thing no inbound traffic to generate.
- Promotion is key but you lack fame.
On the other hand, everything above is a game-changer and that can grow your blog traffic by 180%.
First, context is key.
When you know what way your prospects kindly behave then that can make your marketing strategy seem so easy.
It will make everything look good for nurturing.
Because you possibly would churn out the best content and that can amplify and delight your prospects into selling your brand with word of mouth.
They'll rely on your brand because of the value you've provided.
And that matters.
2. It is marketable
According to Neil Patel, he considers a blog to be one of the highest rank content marketing techniques.
It means when you stop blogging you lack content marketing strategy, search presence, and reach.
If all that could get out of your hook then tell me how you would get found by your prospects?
I mean how would you drive qualified leads when you don't blog?
You see when a business lacks marketing it means there won't be any reach or so ever.
People just don't buy good products anymore but they likely buy from a good brand.
And if your brand isn't positioned as one it can take years or century to compete.
So the best way to support your business core objectives is by using a blog as a source.
And here's how you can make blogging marketable:
Whenever your brand is ready to market or promote a new product use a blog as a medium.
Here's it.
- Create a landing page for the product you're about marketing.
- Make sure you use relevant call-to-action and infographics hook to get them to engage.
In fact, you can create a free ebook that illustrates another point of view about the topic.
And make it comprehensive and driving.
That can boost your reader's hormone to stay engage even more.
After all, build on topical relevance that's interlinking product pages together.
But remember to use call-to-action where necessary.
Here's how Neil Patel did his own, you can see on the right hook how he leverage call-to-action.
In essence, he builds on a topic cluster where he drives readers for purchase decisions or for another engagement.
Thus, increasing the dwell time and that can make it rank well in the search results.
That's blogging tactics.
3. It helps you optimize for search engines
When it comes to search engines, quality blogs are fully rewarded.
You know what that means you'll stay on top of every query and the by-product is traffic - leads intent.
But still, that only would happen when you know how SEO is been done.
And here are the tips.
If you're ready to do SEO On your blog I then recommend you to follow these simple steps:
- Your main keyword in the headline - Search intent headline matters.
- The same keyword you have to optimize when doing meta description.
- Build on topical relevance.
- Use the alt tag and don't forget to use your main keyword as well.
- Structure your content for search engines and humans.
- Build on content and resource pillar pages.
- Write great content that would attract, engage, and delight your prospects.
- Use infographic hooks.
- Use video hooks.
After you have master all that then build on link building.
That's backlinks.

For example, let's say you want to rank for the keyword "How to cook pizza".
With that the main keyword there is pizza and that you would optimize for.
So if lucky your SEO tactics go as planned whenever someone does Google searches for that keyword.
Your blog would appear visible to them.
And is important that you know why blogging and SEO takes time.
It's forever traffic it doesn't die out with time so don't give up yet.
4 It helps build a relationship
The key to blogging is the relationship.
It helps build a direct relationship between you and your audience and that you can utilize to direct them for specific actions.
You can create a poll or survey on your blog where you can ask critical questions to know what you're doing wrong or right.
Funny enough these prospects would make responses to it depending on that thing you want them for.
It can be you want them for an email list, contact form, fill a survey or more.
Whatever that might be with blogging it's so easy to set up right away.
5. It promotes your YouTube videos.
So many publishers use their blogs to gain more YouTube video views.
With blogging, you can give a concrete view of what you're about teaching.
And use videos to improve the user experience.
But one thing, the YouTube video you're about sending out must tally with the content at hand.
Take, for instance, you're about promoting a video called content marketing.
That means everything about the video content is content marketing and that shouldn't exclude in your blog post.
This way, if anyone clicks to read such a person believes everything here is all about content marketing.
And to improve the click-through-rate of the video.
It's best you drive the audience for a specific action.
This way, you may say click on the video below and see what content marketing really means.
Such call-to-action is actionable and anyone that stumbles on your blog would love to check that out.
6. It tells your story
For one, I do believe so much on the Golden circle and what does that means?
The Golden circle tactics came in three forms:
- What
- How
- Why
But, here's it.
Whenever you're churning out stories to your audience that way it's best you start with the why stage.
Because most brands today do start with the what stage and that's totally wrong.
The why stage makes you think critically and set a unique tone right away.
For instance, for the Why framework:
It means why are you doing what you're doing? because people don't convert for what you do but why you do them.
But, in terms of the How stage:
It means how does the new product helps the audience?
This helps you to critically think about what value it brings to your audience.
And for the What framework:
It means what are you offering?
This framework helps you in setting up a unique selling point and a mission statement.
So with blogging, you can sell out your brand with a compelling story that everyone would love.
In fact, that can make people easily convert but remember a brand story without a character is just like a plain statement.

It doesn't add any value.
So it's best you understand that when writing a brand story on a blog your point of view matters.
That's, who is your direct communicator.
If that your direct communicator simply based on the second person that means you're speaking directly to the audience.
But know this, a great story humanize your brand and that should stay real and emotional.
And make sure that your story is solving people's problems and needs.
It means you don't have to tell people about what you do anymore but why you do them and what benefits they'll receive from it.
That's when your story is communicating with feelings and dealing with human behavior.
So all that can only be done through blogging or other inbound campaigns.
Then I see no reason why you should replace blogging when you know the value it brings.
Conclusion
Consistency is what brings value and appreciation from your audience.
So if you ain't staying consistent enough there's no way your blogging tactics would work.
And if it possible you've any other means outer than blogging.
Yes. you can go for it if that pays off.
But if not, it's best you stick to blogging and improve your inbound strategy.
So, over to you, why do you want to stop blogging? and what to do instead of blogging?
