Here's how to do SEO yourself Without Paying To Learn

Here's the story about how I learn SEO from home without attending for SEO training.

Thanks to Youtube publishers, Google skills for Africa, and top mentors like Neil Patel and Brian Dean.

Here's the kicker.

At that time, I spent almost 6 hours on Youtube learning SEO.

That was really stressful but I need to get what I ever wanted.

This way, I know what can really make me improve is consistency.

I watched tons of SEO content, Facebook ads, read online articles and that's it.

Yet, I still sound more like a new teacher then I published tons of tiny articles(articles that don't have the potential of ranking on Google).

I don't know much about keyword research, search intent, content optimization, and topical relevance.

I just published much like you.

Still, I didn't give up and keep writing because the more I write the better I become.

I know I'm new in the SEO industry that way I need some time to grow.

And I hacked on that keep reading online articles and watching Youtube videos which got me really stretched(in terms of data bundle) but I never mind and that's me.

Now, I rank No 1 for the "keyword blogspot SEO guide".

Yet, I got the featured snippet for the keyword "blogger SEO guide"

For the short-tail keyword "blogspot SEO" I rank on the Number 3 spot.

Better still, for the keyword "google blogger SEO" I rank on the Number 4 spot and more.

So, what does that mean to you?

Absolutely, it's really hard to tell you I don't know how I did that because if I do it means I'm lying to you.

So I feel that isn't needed now.

Here's what I did.

I study the organic search engine results for almost 2 months and that's quite a study.

Yet, I just have to pass through that because I barely rank well on Google.

I study how big boys rank and how I could set space for blogger blogs on Google.

Although that pass through a lot of experiments and hypothesis yet it matters.

Because it made me understand the organic result lists better.

So now I pretty much know how to rank well and this I will explain to you.

Learning SEO can be so hard especially when you're a beginner in the game.

Your efforts towards it matter because you would need time to grow that way you don't have to give up too early maybe that isn't your thing.

Right now, it's best I tell you how I learn SEO without paying a dime.

1. Stay connected with your passion - SEO or anything

When I started out I choose entertainment as my preferred niche then you'll have to published almost what's the same as others.

I call it a bunch of irrelevant headlines and scripts.

In fact, it's best i call it a copy and paste jam of article.

And that's what keeps happening then.

Until I finally jam a free course online(Google skills for Africa) and that was introduced through my friend.

Well, I was able to hack into the group and luckily, i started receiving lectures online.

It's fine, I had a great experience and it really makes me feel I can do better.

So during the process of learning SEO and digital marketing, I realized everything that was said I'm so much familiar with it.

In fact, that makes me want to blog heavily later I switched to a free WordPress blog.

I mean configuring a free hosting with a free domain and it really works out.

But I never once enjoyed it because when I perceive the visitors keep growing that way HostGator keeps informing to switch to a paid version.

In order to have access to an unlimited hosting plan, I cried believe me I did(cried) because of the audience I felt I have lost.

Now, I asked myself what's next to do? because I don't how exactly I want to drive what I have passion for.

Because of that, I just have to switch back to blogger blog that was I started publishing tons of tiny articles.

Which I couldn't help myself later by not deleting some and that I eventually did.

Through that process, I just have to bring out how productive I am and that's it.

Just for the passion, I have for it that makes me go extra miles and ready to face the challenges.

It was quite serious but I just have to overcome it.

So before anything passion comes first and others are secondary. They'll surely follow up(money, fame).

2 Practice keyword strategy

Keyword research + search intent = Keyword strategy.

So, what does that mean to you?

As an SEO your first stage in optimizing for a good blog post is doing keyword strategy.

It means now you don't need to focus on keyword research anymore but keyword strategy.

When it comes to ranking well in Google what works now is the way you build on keyword strategy.

A lot is changing with SEO and you'll have to stay careful if you want to beat your competitors.

When you do keyword research you did that for seeing the potential.

I mean the average monthly searches, top-ranking websites, keyword gap and more.

But, do you know you might still not rank for not leveraging search intent with it?

Yes and that mostly happens now.

That's why doing keyword research isn't enough to rank well in Google.

Let's say you use free keyword research tools like ubbersuggest, google planner, keyword everywhere, and more.

Now, if you pick up a keyword like "google blogger" you would want to know how often people search for the keyword.

It's fine, let's say after doing all that plus keyword difficulty, featured snippets hacking and more.

The next thing is about what to write.

So, how can you optimize according to the audience's search intent?

Meaning what they're searching for, how they often type their search queries.

Tell me, how would you do that?

It means search intent is the thing.

With the likes of people ask a question, related searches, carousel and more. They ain't there for fashion but to make the audience stick even more.

Why can't you use that to your advantage?

Hack on it and optimize your headline for it. It boosts search presence and traffic than you ever think.

3 Hack on topical relevance

To bring out your potential it's best you know what topical relevance really means.

Take, for instance, as you write for the keyword "google blogger" to make that content rank high on Google.

You would need to build topical relevance.

It's like doing a topic cluster that's interlinking the same keyword but different headline intent.

That way, Google Rankbrain would signal that everything about the blog post is "google blogger".

And because you cover everything about the keyword "google blogger" Google ranks your content much higher.

4. Know your point of view

Your interaction matters, that's who you're talking to:

• The first person - yourself
• Second person - The audience
• The third person - Reference

It's best to make the connection clear and keep it consistent.

When you're doing SEO for your blog if the blog post connection is for the audience then focus on it and keep it consistent.

Consistency is key when it comes to content.

5. Determine your conflict

To create a superb headline it's best you determine your conflict.that's,

• Needs
• Problems
• Your reader's journey

So I recommend you to know what exactly you want to solve.

6 Study more

SEO is a long route, which means you don't have any cost to stop learning and growing.

In my own case, I still learn and read because that's the only way I can grow.

SEO is no longer about the years stayed but the years you keep improving.

7 Optimize for Search engines and humans

In order to stay proud of yourself doing SEO, you have two things to fulfill.

• Optimizing for humans and search engines.

Now, optimizing for humans means writing insightful content that would delight them to want to stick even more.

And making the user experience great enough.

But as for search engines, you have to fulfill On-page and Off-site SEO factors.

For On-page SEO,

• Primary Keyword in the headline.
• Primary keyword in the meta description.
• Improving the keyword density
• Proper structuring of the content.
• Building on search intent.
• Alt-tag optimization.
• Leveraging topical relevance.
• Short-URL performs better.
• Writing an in-depth article

But for Off-site optimization

• Link building - backlinks
• Guest posting

8. Watch Youtube Videos

That was the way I learn once I don't comprehend a guide much I stumble almost immediately on Youtube to get more clue.

So please don't hesitate not doing also because you'll benefit a lot and that's it.

But one thing, after you have watched it don't think you know it yet.

Practice what was taught until you become very perfect in it.

Mastering SEO takes time because is a broad topic.

9. Network - Join forums

Join forums or SEO communities so that you butter your idea more.

What was known still needs polishing and that's what forums will give to you.

If anything isn't clear to you kindly drop your question I believe people will attend to it.
